Baptism

Black man baptizing three others

Baptism

A lady asked a question.   She asked the question “Can baptism deny you the Kingdom?”  Different types of “churches” have varying modes of “baptism.”  Some sprinkle, some pour, and some immerse.  Some baptize infants; others baptize older children and/or adults.  And there are groups which even “baptize” on behalf of those deceased.  Then others tell us it is not an important thing and therefore practice no baptism at all.

Consequently, history reveals that baptism has been the most divisive issue throughout the present age.  Our Baptist forefathers paid dearly for their stand upon the Bible truth of baptism.  Many focus on the “act” of baptism rather than Salvation itself.  Set aside any preconceived notions and see exactly what the Bible teaches.

Also, a smart lady ask this question, “can baptism deny you the Kingdom?”  I would like to share with you my direct response to her”, and remember to keep the Bible in context as you go along.  Also, it is our Christian duty to study God’s Word to show ourselves approved, a workman that needs not be ashamed.

A man baptizing another man

The Response

Furthermore, you offered a question that many may be confused about, and a very legitimate question.  You asked, “Can baptism deny us the kingdom?”  Most importantly, the answer is “No.”  Non-belief will deny you the kingdom, and nothing else.

Evidently, many have mistakenly taken Baptism out of context through the centuries by tradition equating it to Salvation.  Furthermore you can be baptized a thousand times and all you get is very wet.

Baptism is not Salvation.  Salvation requires us to believe that.   The shed blood of Jesus Christ was the propitiation for our sin.  That is what cleanses us, not water.  Rather, baptism shows the world we belong to Christ.

If anyone has questions on Baptism please contact me and we will show you what the bible says.  Thanks.

The Bible Way

The Bible Way

God’s Holy Word

God’s Holy Word, the Bible, which bible to choose has been a controversial subject for centuries.  The best advice this author can give, especially for people just starting their religious studies or journey, is to first take the advice of someone very experienced in scripture until you have taken the time to research if that person is correct or not according to facts, historical facts.   If you like history, you will find the study of the history of the bible very interesting.  The advice this author can give from His many years of experience until proven wrong is this:  use the Authorized King James Bible while you’re doing your own research until you are convinced it is the true Word of God.  It has never been proven wrong.

Are there  mistakes in the KJV?

Yes, some have said that it contains mistakes in it, but the people claiming that are the ones containing mistakes.  They may be referring to some grammatical changes the King James Bible committees made before its first publication for easier reading and understanding, but there are no contextual mistakes as there is in all modern-day versions.  It is critical in the day we live for the bible student to recognize falsehoods or lies when they see them. Only Satan is the author of confusion which he has been doing for centuries trying to destroy God’s Word.  ALL modern-day versions must come from somewhere so where do they come from?  They all come from the King James Version.  It’s just that they were then corrupted by adding too and taking away from like the bible says NOT to do.  The brilliant scholars caused this.

It is pathetic how the modern-day versions and translators have corrupted the Word of God.  On the next page I have a chart of how and when the corruption started.  When you look at the chart, notice there are only two bibles in the world, or should I say two lines of text.  There is the Antioch text line, and then there is the Alexandrian text line.  You the reader is welcome to study this out.  ALL modern-day versions come from the Alexandrian line, and the King James comes from the Antioch line.  The modern day “perversions” was borrowed and then corrupted FROM the Antioch line. Many corruptions have begun in the last few centuries.

What We See

A cross laying on a bible

This author sees corruption creeping into the churches, even some of the Independent Fundamental churches.  It is happening because of “political correctness” and the “good ole boy” syndrome.  What do I mean by that?  If people are friends with pastors whether they are speaking biblically correct, they stand for the incorrect speaker before they will stand for the truth.  Another word for that is “compromiser.”  People compromise the truth for friendship. There is more of that going on than you might imagine.  I support biblical pastors, but if one says something that is not biblical, I’d rather go by what the bible says.  Men can be wrong, God is ALWAYS right.  When you look at it a little closer it is not what we think, but what God says that is truth.

The Average Layman

I ask the average layman this, have you taken the time to observe what leaders of the church and elsewhere are speaking and how it lines up with the Word, or are you just not that interested?  If we don’t study “truth” how will we know deception and lies when they come around?  Please observe the chart on the next page.

Corruption in the Church

Corruption is creeping into the church.  Let me give you an example.  Since everything is based off the words of the King James, the NKJV or New King James is being touted as one of the grandest bibles around, since it comes from the King James.  What the average lay person is not aware of, is that it also has been corrupted by the modern day so called “scholar.”  The following words are omitted: “Lord” 66 times, “God” 51 times, “heaven” 50 times. Besides, “fornication” 23 times, “repent” 44 times. Also,“blood” 23 times, “hell” 22 times, “devil” 26 times, “Jehovah” entirely, “new testament” entirely, damnation” entirely, “soul” 137 times.

As you can see on the chart protestants came from the Antioch line, but the Independent Baptists are not “protestants.”  Many of the “protestants” have corrupted the Word.  I think it is somewhat humorous when people carry on and on about “racial” this and “racial” that.  I’m aware of my biblical race. If we are not “Jewish” then we are “Gentile.”  I know I am a Gentile that has been “grafted” into the family of God.  I’m thankful for that race.  Regardless of your race, if you are a “saved Gentile” you belong to the Lord.  When it is all said and done, that is all that matters. A day is coming when race is irrelevant.  Think about that for a while.

Justification

How can anyone justify any such deletions?  All that change in the bible they claim they are making the bible easier to read than the King James.  That is not true.  They remove simple words and replace them with more difficult words.  Tested were the reading levels of all the versions. The easiest to read was the King James. But, once again, people will believe a lie before they will the truth, and most people will claim the King James is hard to read and it is just not true.

What the bible requires is “study”, not just reading.  But that requires effort, which many do not want to pursue because it might require sacrifice of time and effort.  God has never claimed that being a Christian would be easy no more than it was easy for Christ to walk up Calvary.  You can have the bible memorized from front to back and it is not worth a plug nickel unless “obedience’ is there.  That is the whole purpose of scripture, is obedience.

Truth or Lie

the word truth with magnifying glass

Truth or Lie

Comparisons

Why Jesus truth?  The whole universe falls under two categories.  Anything you mention is either of the truth or it is certainly in the lie category.  Our faith and our lives are lived and operate by the “Truth” or a “Lie.”  It does not matter what you mention it falls under one of those headings.

Which do you believe, the truth or a lie?  Do you know that even more of people will believe a lie before they will the truth?  That is certainly sad but it is true.  That statement is not according to me, most importantly, but according to what God communicated to mankind through His Word.  The Lord, Jesus Christ said, most noteworthy, “I am the way, the truth, and the light.”  Therefore we can believe Him when He says that certainly.  And Satan is “the father” of all lies.  Finally, in contrast, we either believe the truth or we believe a lie.

Truth Benefits

The “truth” will be beneficial to you or help you and a lie will always harm you.  First of all, had you rather be harmed or benefited?  It does not take a rocket scientist to figure that one out, besides did you know most people bring about their own misery.  Many do not want to hear that because they look at themselves as doing no wrong, rather many are in for a “rude awakening.”

Did you know that God don’t lie?  He has never told a lie.  The truth He shared with us in the Bible of His Son Jesus is something you can believe.  It is not a fairy tale like Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny.  Furthermore, I’ll give you a few examples of “truth” and “lie”, although their are literally millions of examples in everyday life, certainly.

Example

The word honesty

For example, this is going to touch a nerve with a  lot of people certainly.   A local television station promotes breweries daily.  Why?  For one thing, profit certainly.  Beer companies pay the station big bucks for advertising their beer. Then, they receive a large profit from the advertisements as a result. You scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours.

Lies

You tell me the answer to these questions.  Is beer good for your body?  The answer is no, because it can destroy the flesh through liver disease or causing accidents through drunkenness, most importantly.  The bible says in Galatians 5:21 – Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told [you] in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.  I did not say this, God did.

Beer therefore being good for you would fall under the “lie category,” because, believing a lie will harm.  The truth is what the bible says.  The truth will benefit you.  Stay away from beer and it will benefit you.  I want to ask you a question.  Do you live by lies or the truth?

Does the TV stations not realize there are other folks that find that offensive to their belief system?  You can call me a nut if you wish, I am screwed on the right bolt.  Your beer and what you think will not change the truth.  The truth will stand for all eternity.  It is a matter of obedience and believing God.  Some call that faith.  Most importantly, it is funny when anybody speaks “truth” they suddenly become the “bad guy.”

The Devil : the father of lies

The word lies

This is only one example, there are millions more where the “truth” always wins out.  The devil will lie you right into Hell!  A day is coming, most importantly, the bible says, when every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess who is “Lord”, as a result of this “truth” we have been sharing on this post.

Have you ever really contemplated on having more peace in your life?  You can visit another post on this website titled Peace.” Consequently, we need to maintain an attitude of trying to keep the peace among our brothers and sisters in Christ, but likewise among those we meet along the way.

Born Again

Salvation

Born Again

Does God Say That All Are Good? “There is none righteous, no not one:”  Romans 3:10.

GOD SAYS THAT ALL ARE SINNERS Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

GOD TELL US THE REASON ALL ARE SINNERS
Rom 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

GOD TELLS US THE RESULT OF SIN
Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

GOD TELLS US OF HIS CONCERN FOR SINNERS
Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

God’s Plan of Salvation makes it plain.

Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation

Christ on a cross

The word “confess” means to agree with God that you are a sinner and that Jesus alone was your substitute in death on the cross.

To “believe in thine heart” means to make a commitment of yourself to the living Christ as your hope for eternity.

Rom 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved

Reflection

Have you taken the time to sit down and reflect on the things of God?  Are you 100% sure you are going to heaven?  Above all, God wants you to be sure, because He loves you.  Besides, this is what He says in scripture.  Most importantly, I do not wish anyone to doubt their salvation but ask yourself if you are sure you are going to heaven.  Hence, if you are not sure, the bible says today is the day of salvation.  Finally, most importantly, it changes not only your life, but furthermore the lives of others.  For the reason that it not only not guarantees you a place in heaven, but you can then be a better witness for others, as a result.

Believe

So, for the reason that Jesus loved us, just believe that Jesus walked the earth in the flesh, (or God in the flesh), was crucified, furthermore died for your sins, and rose from the grave and three days later, that those who believe could certainly have life eternal.  Seems like, people in the modern era, due to busy lifestyles, spend less time reflecting on the things of God, as a result pulling farther away, even more.   Furthermore, to keep true peace, we certainly need to likewise stay in His Word, above all maintaining that peace.  Finally, God first loved you, while we were yet sinners.

Should Christians Observe Halloween?

Halloween

The Origin of Halloween

The idea of observing October 31st as a holiday originated with the ancient Celtic priests, most importantly, called “Druids”, around 300 B.C. The Druids lived in the area between Great Britain and Germany.  Samhain, the god of the dead was worshipped on Oct. 31st. So October 31st was the Celtic New Year’s Eve, because it was the time for their Festival of Death.

The Druids believed that Samhain gathered all the souls of the past year’s dead on this night. Various animals contained souls for receiving sin.  Humans and animals were sacrifices in the forest.  Until 61 AD this sacrifice was carried out.  The Romans outlawed it until 400 AD.  Likewise, some sacrifices were still practiced, even more.

Jock - o - lantern on Halloween

Even more, the Druids taught that the spirit world was closer to the earth on this night than at any other time, and that “the gods” would even appear on this night to play tricks on people.

Also, Pope Bonoface III, in the seventh century, set aside May 13th as “All Saints Day” or “All Hallows Day” as a time for Roman Catholics to honor all known dead saints. In the eighth century, Pope Gregory III moved the date to November 1st which conveniently merged “All Hallows Day” and “All Hallows Eve” with the Celtic New Year and the Festival of Samhain.

So, furthermore, this custom wasn’t much observed in America until the 1840’s when large numbers of immigrants came over from Ireland and Scotland.

Witch on a broom

The Pagan Customs and Characters

Most importantly, Christians need to avoid pagan characters and customs.

Witches, of the Druids, started customs of evil spirits and burning black cats.

Besides witches are worshipers of Satan, and they are an abomination to God (Exo. 22:18; Deu. 18:10-11). Besides, why would a God-fearing Christian want to dress-up their child like something that God hates?  Most importantly, we are children of God.  As children of the light we are in contrast to darkness. And God wants you to walk in light. Even more, walk in holiness.  It seems like people love darkness, but maybe they need more of God.

Evil Spirits

To scare away evil spirits the Celts wore scary masks.  Also, a turnip was used instead of a jack-o-lantern.

Hence the Bible warns us of evil spirits (Lev. 19:31; 20:27; II Kgs. 23:24; Mat. 10:1; Mar. 3:11; Acts 8:7; Rev. 16:13). Why would a Christian want to decorate their home with such wickedness? Does God want you to dress your child up like an evil spirit?

Therefore even the orange and black colors of Halloween have a wicked origin. Human and animal sacrifices by bonfire was used for offering at the Druid Festival of Death for Sanhamin.  Glowing in the dark were colors of orange. The flames of Hell are definitely orange and red.

Trick or Treat

Jack- o - lantern

Even more Trick-or-treating finds it’s origin in the custom of peasants going house to house begging for money to purchase necessities for a feast for Muck Olla, the Druid sun god. Consequently, the stingy received treats, but givers were promised blessings. Christians are not to be stingy.

Another tradition, apple bobbing probably comes from the Roman festival of Pomona, the goddess of fruit and trees.  After Rome conquered Britian, the festival emerged with the festival of Samhain.  Those that bobbed for apples in boiling hot water honored Samhein. Live souls were given freedom.

What is Halloween?

Friend, Halloween is Satanic! Furthermore, it may seem like it’s a harmless game for kids, but in reality it represents paganism, Satanism, besides human sacrifice, torture, rape, murder, idolatry, witchcraft, and spiritualism! The most important day of the year by Satanists is October 31st. Friend, WAKE UP! Don’t honor the Devil! Most importantly, honor God instead by refusing to observe Halloween this year. Above all, the Lord Jesus Christ wouldn’t dress innocent children up like the devils of Hell and march them around town, so why should you? Are you a TRUE follower of Jesus Christ? Rather, SKIP Halloween this year and tell others to do likewise!

“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;” (I Tim. 4:1)
“And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.” (Eph. 5:11)
“The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.” (Rom. 13:12)

Pumpkins

Salvation is everything!

Even more, Jesus Christ came into this world to lay down His sinless life for YOU–to pay for your sins because you couldn’t. Jesus is your only hope for salvation. Only by receiving Him as your Saviour can you enter the gates of Heaven. There is no other way. First of all, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me.” (John 14:6) “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)

Importantly the Lord Jesus Christ has come and PAID for your sins by shedding His own Blood on Calvary. By receiving Him as your Saviour, you can be WASHED from all your sins in His precious Blood (Rev. 1:5; Col. 1:14; Acts 20:28; I Pet. 1:18-19). Most importantly, notice these important words from Romans 5:8-9: “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.”

Jesus Paid It All

Most importantly Jesus PAID your way to Heaven for you! By receiving Him as your Saviour, you will be receiving God’s ONLY means of Salvation. Consequently are you willing to forsake YOUR righteousness and receive Jesus Christ as your Saviour, your ONLY HOPE for Salvation? Romans 10:13 says, “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:9 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” Finally are you willing to forsake your own righteousness, and ask Jesus Christ to save you? Why not pray right now and ask the Lord to come into your heart and cleanse you from all sin. Your relationship, first of all, with Jesus Christ is more important than anything.

Ark children

Noah's Ark

Ark of Safety

Ark Children

This post is about several issues concerning children’s habits, lifestyles, and parenting.  Perfect parents do not exist.  That is a fact.  We can still notice a trend developing among children and adults.

The younger folks do not show the respect to elders as in times past.  The reason this post is titled “Ark Children” is because there is an Ark of safety they can ride on this stormy sea of life.  It starts with the parents.  Parents with their busy lifestyles at times do not observe, notice, or attempt to correct what is happening even in their own homes.  With the proper “Godly” training children can ride the ark of safety by following the”obedience” of the scriptures.

In the world we live in electronic gadgets have taken over.  Children and parents are pushing buttons while each are being taught the ways of the world instead of learning the ways of a Holy God.  People hear God mentioned and they tune Him out over something that amounts to absolute vanity.  Many times parents are not aware of what their their children are reading or watching and their minds are being absorbed by corruption.

Coddled Kids

Another thing noticed is that children are being “coddled” to the extreme turning them into “pansy babies.”  Let me give you an example.  There ‘s nothing wrong with loving your children, but sometimes you can do them more harm than good by going overboard.  I know there will be people disagree but the facts are the facts.

Children huddled

Example:  This has happened, a mother takes her three children to the doctor because shes needs “doctor excuses” to excuse their absence from school because Mom was too lazy to get them up and off to school on time.  The kids arrive at the doctor’s office and Mom wants some tests on them for being what she called “sick.”  There was absolutely nothing wrong with the children as they were playing so loud they were interrupting the staff.  This is a waste of time for the medical  folks as they could be attending other people that has legitimate needs.

Hospital Visits

If your child has the sniffles, believe it or not, you don’t have to claim he’s sick, coddle him and take him to the emergency room and then it turns out to be for nothing.  My mother never took me to the emergency room for a sniffle!  And I survived!  Nowadays kids claim they’re sick over congestion.  That’s not sick!  Sick is the measles or the mumps or the flu.  We used to be congested  constantly as an everyday occurrence, now they think its the end of the world.  Oh I’m so impassionate!  Wait, let me get you a cookie and some milk, so you’ll feel better.

Parents be parents.  Parents need to grow up so their kids can.  I know I’m awful, I’m bad, I’m just an old mean dumb grandpa that don’t know anything.   But guess what?  I wasn’t a spoiled brat that had everything handed to him right and left and knew something about respect.  Have a nice day.

Use of Biblical Language

>

Jesus spreading His armsBiblical Language

Use of Biblical Language

I will try to simplify before moving on with the lesson.  Now I am talking about saved individuals, those that claim to belong to Christ.  Let us say that an individual that is saved decides to sin, which by the way is a choice.  Watch my hands; after he commits the act he says Lord, I repent.  Guess what, that is not enough.

You say, Buddy have you lost your mind, that is not what the Bible says.  That is correct, that is not what the Bible says. But the Bible does say this; once you say, Lord I repent, there has to be a turning away and going another direction from that sin.  There has to be a change of mind, a turning away.  We cannot say, I repent, and keep repeating the same sin. That is not true repentance.

True Repentance

Before my lesson this morning I would like to share a conversation I had the other day on the topic of when people sin.  I should have expanded a little on a conversation I had regarding rewards and how that is associated with the Kingdom, or the thousand year Millennial Reign of Christ.

What time we serve the Lord in this life we will be rewarded for that.  A lot of folks have never experienced true repentance.  That is why they lay down on God.  That is why they are not dedicated to God.  Repentance is an individual word in scripture that people like to avoid.  Why?  Because they enjoy hanging on to their sin.  They don’t really have a true heartfelt repentance.

They might want to use that sin again sometime.  That is why people do not wish to get saved, or come to church like they should.  I will not repent of my slackness, I might want to lie out of church again next week, or Sunday night, or Wednesday night. We use repentance as a bi-word or secondary word, instead of a primary word.

Two hands

Truth or Lie

Now folks we are going to switch gears here a little bit, because I would like to share with you how critical it is to learn how to recognize the difference between the truth and a lie.  Individuals in the day we live are being flooded with lies.

Now I do not know if you have noticed or not on the local level, but the devil is trying to destroy individuals, families, and even churches.  He knows his time is short.  But we, as a unified body of believers in one accord cannot let that happen.

Why?  Because greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. And sad to say there are many in the world that paints a pretty picture and is constantly handing the child of God a lie.  And it is critical in the day we live that we go by what He says, and not by what the false Bibles say, not by what some theologians say, not by what the Charismatics say.

Belief in God

Here goes with my two comments.  Did you know that there can be a belief in God and not be saved?  Besides showing you the proof in the scriptures I see it all the time in the witnessing booth.   Did you know that there can be a belief in God, and still go to Hell?  I hear people in the booth all the time say, “Well I believe in God”.  Here is another example of people quoting the Bible, and taking things completely out of context.

Jam 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.  Why do they tremble? Because they know they are going to Hell.  Now look at John 3:16, scripture that almost everyone knows.  Here is where the Charismatics get messed up, by saying oh I believe in God.  Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

The Begotten Son

Different words

The only BEGOTTEN SON

You see, something many Charismatics have never done is believeth in the “only begotten Son”, which in itself is proof of the Trinity.

OK, here comes another shocker, get ready.  Did you know there are many Charismatic Christians?  Did you know there have been people that believe in God, that join a church, get baptized, and still are lost.

Do you know why?  Because they do not believe in the finished work of the cross.  They believe, but they have never received.  You have to receive what you believe.  Oh Buddy, what do you mean by that.  You can believe the gospel all day long, but until you repent of your sins and receive Him as your personal savior, then it won’t do you any good.

We never know the heart

I also know because I have witnessed it with my own eyes.  I do not doubt anyone’s salvation, but to make my point, I saw a deacon’s wife believe in God, join the church, get baptized, was faithful for 30 years and later get saved.  Why?  Because she did not receive what she believed to begin with.

I’ve been in the booth; I take the Charismatic down the Romans Road.  They look at me and say, oh, I believe, I’m just not ready yet.  Their belief is not very deep.  Why is it not very deep?  Is there still hope for that individual?  Only if he gets under the right Word and the right teaching.  Are you ever at a loss of words at a funeral?  Go HERE for some help.

Cross on a hill

Charity

As I study scripture and listen to other preachers and read different books on scripture I notice something going on in the day we live that is happening on a grand scale even among some Baptist churches.

I see so called men of God not following, the example that the Apostle Paul set before us regarding the use of the English language, the proper interpretation of it, simply because a lack of a thorough and deep study in the Word.  Regardless of what many men claim, I have a peace settled in my soul because of the accuracy of the King James Bible.

Never limit English

This verse is misunderstood a lot of times because of limiting the English language.  We are guilty of that a lot of times.  We will limit what a word says without going to a dictionary to find out if it has other definitions.  A lot of English words have a multitude of definitions, and some of them actually cancel each other out.  Some words have a positive and a negative definition.

Two arms touching

Let me give you an example:  3 – The word Replenish in Genesis 1; it’s not re-plenish it is replenish. If you look it up in a dictionary the primary meaning is to fill up.

The secondary meaning is to refill.  We usually use the word in terms of its secondary meaning and yet the primary meaning means to fill up the first time.  Which definition you go with is going to make all the difference in the interpretation of Genesis 1.

Let

The primary definition of the word Let, is to hinder.  Today we don’t generally use it that way, you very seldom find anybody using it in a negative sense.  Most of the time when we say let we mean allow; that’s the secondary meaning of the word in the dictionary.  The primary meaning is to hinder.  Now, back to 1Cor 13:1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

Though can mean something is certain.  Paul says, “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels”.  That could possibly mean that he does do that, and the Charismatics interpret it that way.

Tongues

I heard a charismatic say one time, “Paul said he spoke with the tongues of men and of angels, that is not what Paul said.  That is a misinterpretation, a misuse of the word.  It not only can mean that something is certain, it  also can mean that something is possible but hypothetical, in other words the same as saying “even if”.   That’s the way it’s used here as a possibility.

Old church

Lev 25:35 And if thy brother be waxen poor, and fallen in decay with thee; then thou shalt relieve him: yea, though he be a stranger, or a sojourner; that he may live with thee.

Trust God

He said though He slay me yet will I trust in Him, well did God kill Job?  No, He didn’t so it was a hypothetical if situation.  He was saying even if He killed me I’m still going to trust Him.  That’s what he meant by the word though.

Look at Pro 11:21 Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.

Well has hand joined in hand against God?  No it hasn’t, but even if it did, they wouldn’t go unpunished.

The word Though can mean plain old If.  That’s the way it was translated in Joh 21:22 Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me

Compare Scripture

In God We Trust

That’s the same as saying not as if I’d already attained.  If you’d take your Bible and compare Scripture with Scripture, every Word of God, man must live by every Word of God.

I can define the word here and if it looks like it means something that I know is contradictory to what the Bible teaches elsewhere, in this case about tongues.

I hope you can see the importance of every word in scripture.  Just like God uses the word shall.  He that believeth on Him shall have everlasting life.  That whosoever believeth in Him should have eternal life, well do you have it or not if you believe on Him?  You do, so God uses the word should as an absolute certainty, not the way you generally use the word. You say so and so should do this, you mean that’s what they ought to do and they’re not necessarily going to.

Use Your Dictionary

Now, that’s the key to getting proper interpretation is finding out what words mean.  If words don’t mean what they mean, then you don’t have any foundation of truth at all.  God wants you to know the truth.

Cross in the sky

God said He would preserve His Word, He has and He will.  I like what Proverbs 22:12 The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge, and he overthroweth the words of the transgressor.  If we are to be more Christ like, it is our Christian duty to preserve His Word and not fall for anything the world sends our way.

Don’t let the world or the Devil try to shame you in calling you one of those King James nuts!

Foundation of Truth

Do you have any foundation of the truth?  Folks, we have to live by every word.  You have to get that definition.  That is why sometimes we have a little trouble witnessing to cultists.  It is a matter of defining terminology.  I do not do this in a witnessing booth, but I have seen people that do.

You ask a Mormon, do you believe in Jesus?  Yes, I believe in Jesus; he does not mean what you mean.

ortance of being in the right word, the right Bible.  As a disciple of Christ, as an ambassador of Christ, as a witness for Christ, you’d best be on the same boat as he is, the Gospel Ship of Truth.  Do not corrupt Christ; do not shame His precious Word.

Paul is not saying that he speaks with tongues of men and of angels, he’s saying if he did that, that’s a hypothetical situation, if he spoke with tongues of men and angels and without charity he’s nothing but sounding brass and tinkling symbols, that’s all he’s saying.

Interpreting Scripture

Multicolored Jesus

Now we’ve seen the importance of correctly interpreting the scriptures.  And it is much easier if you’re in the correct literature to start with.  Here is something I never ever practice.  I will never use a comparison Bible.  Why?  Because I don’t need it.  I do not start with a lie, and try to make sense out of it with the truth.

The NIV takes the deity away from Jesus Christ.  The King James says that God was manifest in the flesh.  The NIV reads he appeared in a body.  The NIV perverts the virgin birth, it removes the blood of Jesus Christ. It removes major portions of 147 verses. It takes away 64, 576 words from scripture.  If you wish to know what God says about that read Deut. 4:2, where he says do not add to or take away from his word.  Not counting the Book of Revelation.

Rapture Ready

Rapture

Time of the Rapture

Some folks have borrowed the term “rapture” from us, but they did not start out with it.  Most denominations do not believe biblically anything about the rapture of the church.

I am not going to set a time for the rapture, because I don’t know when it is going to take place and you don’t either and neither does anyone else.  I don’t care what they tell you, they don’t know when the rapture is going to take place.  It doesn’t matter how heavy the signs get, you will still never know until you hear the trumpet.  Don’t bother trying to set dates.  There is evidence about the rapture in the Bible.

Also a set date, but we don’t where our calendar is, so you don’t know anyway.  And all kind of clues to the maximum time, but the problem is with our calendar.  There are a hundred and twenty jubilees. That is 6,000 years.  Anyway you look in the Book, it is 6,000 years, but when did they start?  Where are we at now and what year is this?  You don’t know and nobody else does.  Personally, I believe God engineered it that way so we wouldn’t set dates for the rapture.  It has been almost 2,000 years since Jesus was here, so we are in the neighborhood.  We are in the generation.  There is not much question about that I don’t think.

What is the rapture

Before we get into when the rapture is and again, I am not setting dates I am going to show you when it is in respect to other ‘end time’ events and prophecies.  Before we get into that maybe we just need to talk about the rapture itself for a minute and see what it is.  You won’t find the word rapture in the Bible, and some of the enemies of the Book will use that against you, but that means absolutely nothing.  There is a lot of terminology we Christians use that you don’t find in the Bible. That proves nothing at all.  The word ‘rapture’ is just a term that Christians have adopted to designate the end of the church age – that time when the Lord is going to remove His body, the church, from this earth.

Corinthians

3 1st Cor. 15:51 – 55 (Is one of the most detailed passages in the scriptures about the rapture.)  Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, (Psa.103 defines the word ‘sleep’ as physical death.)  but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we (Which are alive and remain) shall be changed. 53 (At that last trump, the dead Christians are going to be raised from the graves and the living Christians are going to be transformed.

 For this corruptible   must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal (The living Christian that is subject to death.) shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? {grave: or, hell}

Victory Over the Grave

1st Thess. 4:13-18 (Another detailed passage on the rapture of the church.) 13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, (We have already seen that means those Christians that are physically dead.  This passage was written 54 A.D. the chronology given here.  It is several years after the resurrection and ascension of Christ back to heaven.  Paul had established a church at Thessalonica and some of the early converts had already died.  Paul preached about the Kingdom and reigning with the Lord and all of those things.  So, those Christians that remain began to wonder about those who died.  Are they going to miss out on the Kingdom?

They certainly won’t be there when Jesus comes back.  Paul says, “I don’t want you to be ignorant about this.  I want to explain it to you.)  that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died (Do we believe that?) and rose again, (Do we believe that?) even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. (He said, “If you can believe that Jesus died.

In Christ

They are not going to be left in the graves.”) 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. {prevent: or, come before, or, anticipate, or, precede} 16 For the Lord himself (This is no job for any minor archangel or any ‘peon’ cherubim.

This is the bridegroom coming for His bride.  He is coming Himself.  That is why at a wedding when the bride comes marching down the aisle, she stops and the groom goes down to receive his bride.  That is a picture of the rapture of the church.) shall descend from heaven with a shout, (I wonder what He is going to say?

Wedding Day

You have been to a wedding, how the bridegroom stands there nervous and fidgeting, and all of a sudden the back door opens, and there she is and that is all he sees.  Jesus is going to shout.) with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: (There is going to be quite a fanfare going on) and the dead in Christ shall rise first: (Have you ever heard someone say, “You are making so much noise you are going to raise the dead?”  That is where they got it.

There is going to be so much noise at that rapture, it is going to raise those saints right out of the grave.)  17 Then we which are alive (All of the events in v.16 take place before you, if you are still living.  You experience a change, but it is all going to take place in the twinkling of an eye.) and remain shall be caught up together with them (Those dead saints in vs.15.) in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words. {comfort: or, exhort}

We Have Hope!

That is why we don’t sorrow as others which have no hope.  When we go to the funeral of a Christian, we know they are coming up out of that grave one on of these days.  It is just a temporary good-bye, and really, they are not dead at all.  They are just with the Lord.  We have got nothing to cry about.  We should be shouting praises at funerals.

The Lord is going to descend from Heaven.  He will have one purpose in His mind when He returns in the air.  He is coming after His bride.  This is the elopement of the church.  That is why He is coming as a thief in the night.  He is going to sneak up on this world, get His bride and take her to the Father’s house.  He is going to snatch her away from this place right out of the grasp of Satan.  The devil is going to try to prevent you from ‘going up’ at the rapture.

Goodbye Devil

The Devil,  of course, he is a defeated foe.  It won’t make any difference at all.  When the preacher says, “Does anyone object to this union?”  The preacher is going to be the Father. (And it won’tbe a Catholic Father either.)  He is the one who is going to perform the marriage. The devil is going to say, “I do” and the Lord is going to rebuke him, shut his mouth, and take His bride out of here.  Still, the devil is going to try to prevent the church from leaving this world.

Resurrection

But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come? 36  Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die: 37  And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain: 38  But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.

39  All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds. 40  There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. 41  There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.

Resurrection of the Dead

42  So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: 43  And sown in dishonour; and raised in glory: also sown in weakness; it is raised in power: 44  It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. 45  And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. 46  Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.

47  The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. 48  As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. 49  And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. 50  Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

The Living Saints

Profile of a man with question mark  If you look up the word ‘rapture’ in the dictionary, you don’t need to look it up in the Bible; you won’t find it, it means ‘to be so overjoyed’ and ‘so thrilled’ and ‘so beside yourself with joy that you are just beside yourself’.  You are so filled with joy and that is the way it is going to be when we see the Bridegroom.  We are all going to recognize Him.  I have seen some poor excuses of pictures, but none of them look like my Saviour.

6 – Viewpoints concerning the rapture.

Different Views

There are three basic viewpoints concerning the rapture.

  1. A-millennialism: No Kingdom, no rapture.  There is a viewpoint that there will be no rapture at all and this is where we will continue on until God gets sick and tired of it and brings on the judgment and that is the end of it.  That is the viewpoint of the National Council of Churches and all of its denominations, which includes most Protestant denominations.  They don’t believe in a Kingdom; don’t believe in a rapture.  Andbelieve that this world is finally going to come to an end and God is going to bring everyone out of it, and then judge everyone.  He will put the ‘sheep’’ on His right hand and the ‘goats’ on His left hand.  That shows that they can’t read because the ‘sheep and goat parable’ of Matthew 25 is not talking about ‘people’ anyway’.  They believe God is going to have a general judgment and the ‘sheep’ are going to heaven and the ‘goats’ are going to hell and that is where eternity begins.  You will not find that in the Bible at all.
  2. Post-millennialism: No rapture church makes world better for the Kingdom.  It is very similar because post millennialism teaches that the church is going to make the world better, and better, and better, until finally it is good enough that the king can come back.  Jesus will come back at the end of the thousand years and take over.  In other words, the church will bring in the Kingdom.
  3. Premillinialism – (look below)

The Bible Teaches

After those seven years of tribulation, there will be the millennial kingdom for a thousand years.  You have two basic viewpoints on this idea.

Sunshine through clouds

  1.  Pre-tribulationists believe the rapture will take place before the tribulation begins.
  2. Mid-tribulationists believe that the rapture will take place at the mid-point in the tribulation.

What in the world would cause a preacher to preach that the rapture will happen at mid-tribulation.  It does not make any sense.  The first three and a half years are of peace, a false peace.  What would you be worried about?  It shows he does not know anything about his bible.

Does It Make A Difference?

What difference does it make then, which one is right?  It makes a lot of difference.  God only teaches one way about anything.  That is why we should study to show ourselves approved.  The correct viewpoint is very important and makes a big difference in what we believe.  Not only on the rapture, but everything else.  To believe a false teaching in the face of truth is calling God a liar.  If I don’t believe the record that God gave me, I am calling Him a liar.

Knowing God’s Will

A church with pews

God’s Will

Knowing God’s Will

A recent survey revealed that in an average Bible Believing, independent Baptist Church, maybe 40% of the members know God’s will for them, 48% want to know God’s will, and the remaining 12% are unconcerned.  The twelve percent either just do not know, do not care, or have not really given any thought to the matter.

Very few people today can actually say today that they know the will of God for them personally.  Romans chapter 12 discusses the will of God and how to know.  So hopefully this lesson will enlighten us a little bit as to what we need to know to understand this better.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Rom. 12: 1

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2

For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. Rom 12: 3

A woman kneeling on a rock

For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: Rom. 12: 4

The Formulas

Verses one and two give the formula for knowing God’s will.  There are other things involved in a full knowledge of God’s will.  For example, circumstances have a part in the will of God.  Circumstances involve God working things out in a given situation to guide His servant, (which would be you).  Yes, since we have become saved, we are now a servant of Jesus Christ.  Why are we a servant of Jesus Christ?  Because if we want blessings in our life, and also in our eternal home, heaven, we are to serve Him, and obey Him in all things.

Other Christians, wiser than ourselves, can often help us in ascertaining the will of God.  God can use many different ways to reveal His will to an individual.  Consequently, when we speak of a certain “formula”, there may also be many other factors involved.  Be that as it may, the principles found in Romans 12 must be operating in one’s life if he or she is to really know God’s will for them.

Consider this basic formula for knowing God’s will.  Paul says, “I beseech you” in verse 1.  Beseech means to beg or plead with someone.  The apostle is begging us to do something.  That something must certainly be worthy of our attention for him to beg us.  We need to pay attention and see what it is.

Look at verse 1 again.  “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God.”  Paul calls our attention to something that should motivate us to want the will of God in our lives.  A man in deep thought

A Living Sacrifice

Paul says to “present your bodies a living sacrifice” That is exactly what the three Hebrews did in Daniel 3:28, when Nebuchanezzar made the golden statue.

They said, (Dan 3:16-17), “our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver (us) out of thine hand, O king.  But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.”  They sais God was able to deliver them, but if He chose not to, they would still serve Him.  They yielded their bodies that they would not bow down to any God except their own.

That is what Paul is beseeching Christians to do:  “present your bodies a living sacrifice.”  That is, we are to take ourselves, ourselves totally, and give ourselves to God.

Paul Says

A woman leaning on a tree

Look at Rom 6:13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

That is a command.  That is what Paul is begging us to do in chapter 12.  He pleads in chapter 12what he commanded in chapter 6.  Our members are the parts of our bodies.  We are to yield, or present, them unto God, as instruments of righteousness.  God wants us to verbally and consciously commit ourselves to Him.  He wants us to yield our members to God through prayer.

God, I give you my eyes that they might look for you and see the needs of people that you might minister through me to those people.

The little member that needs yielding the most is the tongue.  It causes more trouble than any other member.

Jam 3:5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!

Two cartoon men talking

The “Tongue” Defies

Jam 3:6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

The Bible says that in the tongue is the power of life and death (Pro. 18:21).  If every Christian would completely yield his tongue to God, everything he had would be God’s.  James says (1:26) if a man does not bridle his tongue, his religion is vain.  If one can control his tongue, he has control of the whole body. (James 3:2)

Eli in the Old Testament is an illustration of this perfect yielding to God.  He had a lot of problems, mainly in his own family.  He was not good in the discipline and training of his sons.  Because of that, the curse of God came on Eli’s family.

Disobedience

Now, there was a man to whom God said, “I’m going to cut your family off.  You’ll have no descendants in Israel at all, because of your disobedience in raising your sons in a godly manner.”  When Eli received that negative message from God, he said (1st Sam. 3:18), “It is the Lord: let Him doeth what seemeth Him good.” That is total submission to the will of God.

Had he submitted to God like that 25 years earlier, God would not have had to curse his family.  Had he yielded himself as a father to God, to be used of God the way God wants a father to be, then he would not have had serious problems with his sons later.  God would not have had to destroy his family.  Finally he came to a point in his life where he totally submitted to God, but it was too late to salvage his family.

Is that not the way it is with a lot of Christians?  They wait until their children are grown, gone astray, and on their way to hell, before they finally wake up and get right with God.  We should get right years and years before that happens.

Someone once asked a Christian educator, “When do you start educating a child?”  His answer was, “twenty years before he‘s born, by educating his parents.”  We must start as early as possible.  So we need to yield ourselves to God at whatever point in our lives we are at right now.  If one is saved, it matters not if he is only ten years old; he needs to yield himself to God.  God wants total submission, just like Eli expressed.

Be a Light

Single light bulb

Isaiah gives another picture of total submission to God.  God said, “Whom shall I send?”   Isaiah looked around and said, “Lord, I’m here.  Why don’t you send me?  That is total submission.  God is asking that same question to all of us: “Whom can I send to the mission field?  Whom can I send to your next door neighbor to tell them about Jesus?

Too often we do respond as Isaiah did:  “Lord, here am I; send me.”  Instead, we say, “Lord get somebody else to go to my neighbor.”

“Whom can I send to witness to your fellow employee or your schoolmate?”  We should quickly reply, “Lord, You don’t have to look any further.  Here I am, ready to do your will.”  May we, as Isaiah, totally submit to the will of God?

Go  “Present your whole bodies a living sacrifice.”  The first step one must take, in order to know for sure what the will of God is for him, is to dedicate himself  totally to the Lord.

1st Th 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.  This concerns more than just dying and going to heaven and waiting on the second advent of the Lord.  He is saying that He wants us Christians to be in such a state when the Lord comes back, that at that moment we are blameless.  We will not be in sin nor even having wicked thoughts.

Be Ready

Two cartoon women

We will be doing what God wants us to be doing right at that moment.  If one is planting an apple tree when Jesus comes back and that is what God wants him doing, he is just as much in the will of God as the person standing on the street corner preaching.  He is yielded to God and doing what God wants him doing.

1Th 5:24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.  What will God do?  He will preserve us blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.  In order for Him to do that, there are some things contingent on us.  We have to yield ourselves to Him.

God wants us to live our lives and do the things necessary for living.  He wants men to make a living for their families.  He wants ladies to be homemakers.  It is His will for us to do all the things necessary to living.  Paul says that whatever we are doing, we should be blameless in body, soul, and spirit, when the Lord returns.

God wants the whole person to be sanctified.  When does He want that; when does He want us to yield ourselves totally to Him?

Dedicated

God wants us dedicated today, so He can bless us this day.  That is why He tells us in Mathew chapter 6 to concern ourselves with today, and do not worry about tomorrow.

Mat 6:34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.  Forget what may happen tomorrow, or next month, or what happened last week.  We must concern ourselves with today.  Living today, not yesterday, not tomorrow.  Dedicate ourselves to God today, that He may bestow upon us a blessing today.  The reason we go through many days without blessings from God is because, on those days, we have not dedicated ourselves unto the Lord.

Help wording

Another passage shows when God wants us dedicated unto Him.  1Ch 29:5 The gold for things of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and for all manner of work to be made by the hands of artificers. And who then is willing to consecrate his service this day unto the LORD?

The materials mentioned were being dedicated for the building of the temple.  After consecrating the gold and silver, David inquired as to who of the people would consecrate his service “this day” unto the Lord.  God cannot bestow a blessing on us this day unless we are willing to consecrate ourselves this day unto Him.

Consecrate Ourselves

God wants us to consecrate our whole being to Him today.  We might respond, “Well, I did it yesterday.  Is that good enough for today?  It is not.  That is why we should get up every morning dedicating ourselves for that day unto the Lord.

Psa 118:24 This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Lam 3:23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

And our dedication to Him should be new every morning.  And it will be, if our faithfulness to Him is great.
